It’s all about social innovation and business models: TRANSITION workshop @EBN Annual Congress
27/06/2014 @ 11:00 - 13:00
In this 23rd edition EBN wants to highlight the efforts done by the BICs to accelerate young entrepreneurship. Under the theme of “Empower Youth | Accelerate Entrepreneurship | Transform Lives” we’ll discuss how youth unemployment can be tackled through an innovative entrepreneurial culture.
This includes social innovation as a key emerging area for developing and exploring new business models. “It’s all about SI and business models” aims at presenting SI incubation best practices from across Europe and even beyond, and particularly the role of SI in tackling youth unemployment.
Social Innovation Incubation is a major trends in our ecosystems, and a strategic subject for incubators, accelerators, entrepreneurs, and for the EC and EBN.
Concrete examples will be brought from several European regions and Egypt, and meaningful social innovations will be presented providing concrete and meaningful examples of social innovation incubation to incubators, accelerators, and the wider EBN community.
TRANSITION project will present initial results of its Social Innovation incubation programme.
The Social Innovation Journey and the Transnational Start Up Lab methodologies will be presented together with the tools and the activities TRANSITION scaling centres developed and proposed to the first cohort of social innovations scaled up between February and June 2014.In this occasion TRANSITION will present the future European Network of Social Innovation Incubators, ESIIN.
Few issues have as acute a need for social innovation as tackling unemployment. 27 million people are unemployed across European Member States, with many millions more under-employed, in unsustainable employment, and economically inactive. It is a major challenge – not least for the people who are searching for new jobs, but also for society as a whole.
This challenge is not about numbers and statistics; it is about human beings, their families, communities and futures. Europe is crying out for new ideas on how to unlock fresh talent, skills, experience and insights of people who have a great deal to offer to our economy and society. EC – DG Enterprise
Social innovation is not only desirable, it is necessary!
